Sally J. Emig, age 68, Ishpeming resident, passed away on June 17, 2026 at her home while in the loving care of her sister Mary, brother-in-law Bob, best friend Bob, pals Ginger, Jaxon, and Fergie, and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Sally was born on July 8, 1957 in Meadville, PA, daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (Phelps) Emig. She grew up in the Meadville area and attended Meadville Area High School where she graduated with honors with the class of 1975. Sally moved from Meadville to the UP, she then lived in Florida and Maine, before returning back to the UP of Michigan, a place she truly fell in love with and considered her home.
Sally lived a life of helping others, driving bus in both Florida and Michigan, serving as a classroom aid, working in the food service in both schools and at hotels, serving ice cream at Frosty Treats, she had a love for being around people. She also retired as an assistant manager from Starbucks, and worked at Kwik Trip following that retirement.
Sally was a master gardener, and enjoyed volunteering at Park Cemetery in Marquette, MI. She fell in love with motorcycles and loved to ride. Sally especially loved her Lhasa-Apso puppies and spent hours everyday grooming their coats.
Sally is survived by 5 siblings: Sue, Carol, Jack, Bonnie (Andy), Mary (Bob), special nieces: Michelle (Dewaine), Emily (Zach) and their son Zekey, close friends: Mary Beth, Anne, Kitty, Fran, Colleen, Bob, 3 dogs: Ginger, Jaxon, and Fergie along with several other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Gordon, and niece: Jill.
Following Sally’s wishes, cremation will take place with no public services. Interment will take place in Meadville, PA where a family memorial will be held.
Someone Said: Life can flip in a second. One phone call, one diagnosis, one unexpected moment and everything changes. Nothing is guaranteed. Not time. Not health. Not the people you love.
So love louder. Appreciate deeper. Because what feels normal today could be something you pray for tomorrow…
