Ishpeming- Sally J. Clark, age 86, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away on Thursday March 14, 2019 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her family and nursing home staff.
Sally was born in Ishpeming on May 6, 1932, daughter of the late John and Aili (Maki) McVannel. She attended Ishpeming Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1950. She worked at the front desk of the Mather inn, was a former bell telephone operator, and was a bookkeeper for Saline's Furniture Store for many years.
Sally was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Ishpeming where she served on the altar guild, volunteered for anything that the church needed and was truly a pillar of Grace Church. She was a member of the Wawonowin Country Club, bridge club, the Bell Auxiliary and Friends of the Library. Sally was an avid bowler, a cub scout den mother, as well as a wonderful cook, mother, and grandmother.
Sally is survived by her 3 children- John S. Clark of Minneapolis, Terry (Linda) Clark of Negaunee, Cathy Clark of Scottsdale, grandson- Mitchell Clark, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- John "Jocko" Clark, brother- J. Roger McVannel, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law- Darlene McVannel, George Clark, Rosemary Clark, and Neil Clark.
Sally's family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday March 19, 2019 from 10:00am until 11:00am at the Grace Episcopal Church in Ishpeming. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am with Virginia Graybill and Manuel Padilla co-officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Inurnment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grace Episcopal Church.
