Ishpeming Twp. - Ryan D. Helstein, age 39 of 300 Gold St. in West Ishpeming passed away on Sunday July 2, 2017 in Ishpeming Twp. as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident.

Ryan was born August 14, 1977 in Ishpeming the son of Dale and Colleen (Barda) Helstein. He was a graduate of the Westwood High School, Class of 1996 and attended Northern Michigan University. He had worked as a corrections officer for the Michigan Dept. of Corrections mainly at Marquette Branch Prison for several years. Ryan enjoyed the outdoors especially his love of fishing and hunting along with camping, but was happiest spending time with his daughters.

Survivors include his wife Ashley (Nebel) Helstein of Ishpeming Twp., two daughters, who were the love of his life – Madacyn Helstein and Avery Helstein, step-son Aiden Martin, father Dale Helstein of Ishpeming Twp., 4 sisters - Danielle (Randy) Pascoe of Shakopee, MN, Lisa Helstein of Ishpeming, Natalie (Maks) Ardashnikov of Shakopee, MN, and Ashley (Jeffrey Stampee) Helstein of Ishpeming, grandfather John Barda of Ishpeming, nieces and nephews - Griffin and Halle Helsten, Brecken and Milaneya Pascoe & Zander Ardashnikov, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in in death by his mother Colleen Helstein on January 26, 2017.

A celebration of Ryan's life will be held from 11:00am – 3:00pm on Saturday July 8, 2017 at the Al Quaal Lodge in Ishpeming where family will greet relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the TruNorth Community Federal Credit Union, where a fund will be set up for Ryan's daughters.
