Ishpeming – Ruth M. Dobson, age 87, of 111 S. Bluff St., Ishpeming passed away Tuesday January 31, 2017 at U.P. Health System Bell while in the loving care of her family.

Ruth was born on September 27, 1928 to the late Henry and Fanny (Heikkila) Kiiskila in Tilden Township. Ruth grew up in the Tilden Township area and graduated from the National Mine High School in 1945. She later went on to attend Northern Michigan University before working at the Bell Hospital where she was a nursing assistant for 20 years.

Ruth was a lifelong resident of the Ishpeming area, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, and loved listening to Christian radio. She was a devoted wife and mother, and especially loved and enjoyed her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her husband Marvin Dobson of Ishpeming, 2 children – Daniel (Julie Dobson) Dobson Sr. of Champion, Mary (Amir) Afshar of Ishpeming, 2 brothers – Paul (Anna) Kiiskila, Roy Kiiskila, sister – Ellen Mueller, Cousin – Melvin Hill, 3 grandchildren – Daniel Dobson Jr., Abraham Afshar, Amir K. Afshar, one great-grandchild – Isabella Ann Marie Wesley, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers – Albert, Eugene, Henry, Donald, Martin, Matt, and several sisters-in-law.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Saturday February 4, 2017 at the Faith Lutheran Church, on Co. Rd. 581. Memorial services will follow at 12:00 noon with Rev. Douglas Norquist to officiate. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery at a later date.
