Ishpeming- Russell Charles Aho, age 80 of 148 Salisbury St. Ishpeming, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming.
Russell was born October 13, 1928 in Ishpeming to Elias William & Myrtle Mae (Lampshire) Aho. Russell was a member of the I.O.O.F., AMVETS, Lillian Larson American Legion Post, S.E.R.A., and Tilden Twp Club and played in area cribbage leagues. Russell received an Associates Degree from N.M.U. and retired from the State of Michigan-social services as an Account Executive. Russell was a former member of the National Guard and Merchant Marines where he served on the Great Lakes during World War II.
Russell was so loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Ethel (Korpi) Aho, whom he married April 26, 1947, a son Russell W. (Elizabeth) Aho, daughters: Sandra (Jack) Rosewall and Elizabeth (Greg) Sundberg all of Ishpeming, grandchildren: Jan Rosewall, Jackie Kent, Jay Rosewall, Michael Goldsworthy, Ricky Goldsworthy, Tracy Willey, Russell Aho Jr., Steven Aho, Tina Aho, Brandon Alexander, Amy Kraatz, Paul C. Sundberg and Jamie Sundberg, a brother William Aho Sr., 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Russell was preceded in death by a daughter Linda (Goldsworthy) Steve, granddaughter Tina Rosewall, grandson Jesse Sundberg and great grandson Lucas Sundberg, a sister Lillian Ayotte and his parents Bill and Mae Aho.
Funeral services will be held 3:00p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Rev Warren Geier officiating. Entombment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens..
Family will greet friends and relatives on Tuesday at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home from 1:00p.m. until the time of service at 3:00p.m.
A luncheon will be held at the Tilden Twp Hall immediately following the service.
