Ishpeming- Roy LeBoeuf, age 91 of 575 Jopling St., Ishpeming, passed away on May 6, 2015 at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, where he had been a resident since April of 2015.
Roy was born on September 11, 1923 to Joseph and Eva (LaFond) LeBoeuf. Roy worked as an underground miner/blaster at the Mather B Mine. He proudly served with the Navy Sea Bees during WWII. After his enlistment he managed a gas station before going to the mines.
Roy was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and past member of the Moose Lodge. He was a great cribbage player and enjoyed playing cribbage with his grandsons. He was an avid bowler, was a league member for many years and in his 80's was still bowling and enjoyed getting 289 scores. Being an avid Tiger fan, his grandsons, Peter and Brian, along with his son-in-law Jay, treated him to a 3 day baseball event in Detroit vs. the Brewers. This was a very memorable event for him.
Roy was married to Shirley Youren on April 19, 1947 sharing many happy times together. Roy is survived by his daughter, Lois (John) Ganga, 3 grandchildren, Tracey (Jay) McMahon, Peter (Kelly) Erkkila, Brian (Lynette) Erkkila, 5 great grandchildren, Megan, Brennan, Ian, Sophia, and Rebekah.
Roy was proceeded in death by his wife Shirley, and daughter Barbara Dettman, a sister Flora, and 3 brothers Paul, Edward, and Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday May 9, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Dan Moll officiating. The family will greet and receive friends and relatives at the church beginning at 11:00 am until the time of the service at noon.
Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #380.
