Ishpeming- Roy M. Eman, age 80 of 650 Cedar St. Ishpeming, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Sunday, May 25, 2008 while vacationing with family in Door County, Wisconsin.
Roy was born December 23, 1927 to Albin and Alma (Morin) Eman. He graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1947 and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Roy worked as a meat cutter and manager for E.A. Johnsons. He was emplyed by Cleveland cliffs Iron Company at the Ore Improvement Plant, Cliffs Shaft and as a lab technician at the Research Lab. Roy retired in July of 1991.
Roy is survived by his wife, Alice (Koski) Eman, whom he married on January 12, 1957, 2 daughters: Gloria (Glen) Clickner of Madison, WI, and Brenda (Mike) Lasecki of Gladstone, MI, 4 grandchildren: Craig (fiancée' Carolyn) Clickner of St. Louis, MO, Lauren (Elliot) Kane of Naperville, IL, Eric and Ben Lasecki of Gladstone, a brother-in-law Marvin (Chris) Koski of Republic along with numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was the youngest of 10 siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents, and all his brothers and sisters: Gladys (Edward) Gleason, Lillian Strong, Myra (Ted) Delarye, June (Fred) Nobereit, Robert (Ruth) Eman, Myrtle (Tom) Guy, Fred (Dorothy) Eman, Dorothy (Hub) Petersen, Leona Hagaman.
Roy was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Ishpeming, Ishpeming VFW post #4573, and the Ishpeming Elks Lodge #447. Roy enjoyed playing cribbage in the Ishpeming Cribbage League and was an avid outdoorsman all his life who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Roy also enjoyed gardening and especially spending time with his family. They celebrated an Eman family reunion in September of 2006. He looked forward to spending time at Oja's and 18-camp, playing cards and attending grandchildren's activities.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday May 31, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming from 10:00am until the time of a 12:00PM Memorial service with Rev. Warren Geier officiating.
The family would like to invite friends and relatives attending to join them for a lunch in the fellowship hall immediately after the service.
