Ishpeming – Rose M. Warner, age 91, lifelong Ishpeming resident passed away on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had resided since 2008.
Rose was born June 6, 1924 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Nichola and Mary Rose (Donato) Valenti. Rose was a lifelong Ishpeming resident and a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1942. She had worked as a sales clerk in Ishpeming at Stein's and JC Penney retiring in 1986.
Rose and her late husband Lewis raised a family of four children. Rose was proud of her Italian heritage and would always serve Italian Sunday dinners at her home. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and her card club, and in her later years she was always up "for a ride". She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rose was truly family oriented and taught her family what love was all about, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her 4 children – LeRoy (Linda) Warner of Negaunee, Mary (Bob) Hooper of Britt, MN, Diana (Lloyd) Bushong of Bismarck, ND, and Robert (Cindy) Warner of Ishpeming, sisters-in-law – Carol Valenti and Geraldine Feltner both of Marquette and brother-in-law Tom Warner of Humboldt, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Warner in 2005, 8 brothers – Anthony, Columbus, Nicholas, Frank, Rocco and Salvatore Valenti along with Fred and Ted "Babe" Keskey and an infant sister Rose Marie Valenti.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00pm – 2:00pm on Saturday Feb. 27, 2016 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00pm with the Rev. Fr. Larry Van Damme to officiate. A luncheon will follow the services in the K/D Hall. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. Palbearers will be Rose's grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at the Marquette Co Medical Care Facility for their wonderful care of Rose over the past 7 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility, Activities Dept., 200 Saginaw St., Ishpeming, MI 49849 in Rose's memory.
