Heads up

On the morning of December 19, 2018 Rose Marie (Armitage) Lewis passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

She was born to the late John and Rose (Bertucci) Armitage on July 8, 1946 in Ishpeming, MI where she lived until she joined the army in 1964. She met her husband, Albert Lewis, while serving.  They got married in 1965 and returned to Ishpeming, where they raised their family.

She worked at Marquette General Hospital as a transcriptionist for nearly 30 years before she retired in 1998. She enjoyed bowling, pool, crocheting, going to the casino, and spending time with family and beloved dog Spunky.

She is survived by her husband Albert Lewis. Her children Gina Lewis, Rebecca Swenor, Annette (Scott) Hyttinen, Mark Lewis, and Maria (Matt) Fiereck.  Her grandchildren Jessica Hastings, Jennifer Vaughn, Jonathon Hastings, Chace Swenor, Lance Swenor, Trinity Hyttinen, Gabe Hyttinen, Zachary Lewis, Jade Lewis, Teia Foley, and Mason Fiereck.  Her great grandchildren Davey Vaughn, Lusiel Vaughn, Albert Vaughn, Ava Adams, and Brennick Bonner. Her siblings John (Joann) Armitage Jr, Francis (Cindi) Armitage, Teresa (Randy) Ryan, and Joseph (Susan) Armitage.  She was preceded in death by her parents Rose and John Armitage Sr. and granddaughter Cami Hyttinen.

Following Rose's wishes there will be a celebration of life gathering Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Phelps Square Community Room located at 700 E. North Street in Ishpeming from 2:00pm until 4:00pm.

Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery in the Spring.
