Obituary

Champion – Rose Ellen Frisk, age 84, longtime Champion resident went to be with the Lord on Wednesday December 29, 2010, while under the loving care of her family, the staff at the Eastwood Nursing Center and Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.


Rose was born November 1, 1926 in Spurr Twp. the daughter of the late William and Chloe (Plankey) Pascoe. She was a graduate of the Champion High School, Class of 1944. Rose worked in Detroit for a couple of years during World War II, becoming known as one of the "Rosy the Riveter's." She moved back to Champion in 1946 and married Ernest "Bud" Frisk on June 19, 1946 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Rose was a loving mother and homemaker to her six children. In her spare time, Rose enjoyed baking, and will be fondly remembered for the endless number of wedding and birthday cakes she created. Rose had taught cake decorating in the Community Schools program for 30 years, and had worked as a cook and baker in local restaurants. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, having been involved with the social ministry and the ladies guild.

Survivors include 5 children – Bonnie (Richard) Stetson of Champion, Gary (Jenny) Frisk of South Jordan, UT, Michael (Ardith) Frisk of Marquette, Terry (Debbie) Frisk of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Lori (Gene) Uuro of Champion, a daughter-in-law – Barbara Frisk of Ironwood, 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law – Marcy Pascoe and Betty Pascoe both of Champion, Marie Young of Marquette, Janet Foster of Ishpeming, and Roberta "Birdie" Frisk of Michigamme, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest "Bud" Frisk, a son Steven "Beaver" Frisk, a granddaughter Brittany Frisk, Brothers – Robert, Earl, Royal and James Pascoe, sisters-in-law Pat LaPin and Jean Pascoe, and brothers-in-law – Sully Young, Gene Foster, Lyle LaPin and Cal Frisk.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00noon until 2:30pm on Saturday January 1, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30pm on Saturday Jan. 1, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate, assisted by Sister Margey Schmelzle and Sister Lois Risch pastoral coordinators of Sacred Heart Parish. Interment will take place in the spring at the Champion Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Rose's grandchildren.
