Negaunee- Ronald Earl Vernier, age 68, of Negaunee, MI, passed away after courageously battling cancer for over a year and a half; he remained optimistic until the very end. Ronald graduated from Republic-Michigamme High School in 1973. He attended United Electric Institute in Grand Rapids, MI and held a Master Electrician License and an Electrical Contractors License. Throughout his career, he worked for Cleveland Cliffs, Phillips Plastics, Briggs & Stratton, and finally, General Motors in Pontiac, MI, Lake Orion, MI, and Harrison, NY.

Ronald enjoyed fishing, taking trips to the casino, talking to his family members on the phone, and visiting his friends at local coffee shops.

Ronald is survived by his brother- David (Linda) Vernier, aunt- Carolyn Durant of Cadillac, MI, and his nieces- Brandi Jon-Pierre, Brooke (Andy) Ferns, Brittany (Neil Frederickson) Vernier, Alexandra Vernier, and her son Teddy Jacobs. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Campbell, stepfather- Lee Campbell, father- Francis Vernier, and his beloved niece, Stephanie Vernier, who he lost six days before his own passing.

Ronald's great neighbor, Al Reichel, and Linda Vernier were an immense help to him throughout his illness. Ronald was considered by some to be one of a kind. He was easy going, liked almost everyone, and he was a great brother.

Here's to hoping he finds that special fishing hole and great beach in heaven, where he is now.

Ronald's family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Thursday February 15, 2024 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home where a memorial service will follow at 2:00pm. A reception will follow the services at the former Subway building in Ishpeming located next to Sky Fuel at 378 W. Division St. Ishpeming, MI 49849.
