Ishpeming – Ronald N. "Penji" Pennala, age 67, of 71 Sunnyside Estates, Ishpeming, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at UP Health System – Marquette, with his loving family by his side.
Ronald was born December 9, 1946 in Ishpeming the son of the late John and Elma M. (Tapio) Pennala and grew up in North Lake Location. Ron had served in the United States Navy with the Seabees, from May 16, 1966 – March 10, 1970 having done two tours of duty in Vietnam. Other than his service time Ron was a lifelong Ishpeming area resident. He was a lifetime member of the Ishpeming VFW, where he had served as commander and enjoyed spending his time.
Survivors include two sons Douglas (Tammy) Pennala of Negaunee and Steven Pennala of Diorite Location, 2 brothers – Bruce (Jackie) Pennala of Ishpeming and John (Doris) Pennala of Lake Orion, 3 grandchildren – Briana, Hayden and Parker Pennala. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Troy Pennala and two brothers – including his twin brother Donald and Roy.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #380 at the Ishpeming Cemetery on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 11:30am. A time of fellowship will follow at the Ishpeming VFW, which all are invited to attend.
