Ely Twp- Ronald M. Hamari, age 84, Ely Township resident, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at UP Health System Marquette while in the loving care of his family.
Ronald was born May 13, 1933 in Ishpeming to the late Matt and Tyne (Worlin) Hamari. He worked for the Marquette County Road Commission, retiring as a welder. Ron married Barbara (Sparks) Hamari with whom he raised his five children. Barbara preceded him in death in 1989.
Ron cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed fishing, taking saunas, tinkering in his garage, and going to the log cabin he built on the Black River. Ron was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting and musical events. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.
Ron is survived by his wife, Mildred (Heikkila) Hamari of Ely Twp; his children: Shelley (Shaun) Johnson of Robbinsdale, MN, Ronalyn (Barry) Arseneau of Ely Twp, Ray (Dawn) Hamari of Ishpeming, Mark Hamari of Ishpeming, and Jason Hamari of Osceola, WI; two sisters: Nancy Lepisto of Boynton Beach, FL, and Darlene (Larry) Arsenault of Champion; a brother, Donald (Judy) Hamari of DePere, WI; his grandchildren: Amber (Kyle) Kollmar, Alyssa (Jeff) Choate, Bryan Arseneau, Luke Johnson, and Desiree (Joey) Hermes; two great-grandsons: Trent Kollmar and Gavin Hermes; along with numerous nieces and nephews, and his wife, Mildred's, family.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Barbara, and sisters Eleanor Robinson and Ruth Fredin.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am-12:00 noon on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Bethel Lutheran Church memorial fund in memory of Ron.
