Ishpeming – Ronald "Gerry" Dobson, age 72, of 815 S. Pine St., Ishpeming passed away at 8:10pm on Monday, January 20, 2014 at his home while under the loving care of his family. Gerry was born January 23, 1941 in Ishpeming the son of the late William E. "Wick" and Anna Marie (Asgaard) Dobson. Gerry was a lifelong Ishpeming resident and graduated from the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1959. He served in the United States Army being transferred to the Michigan National Guard in Dec. of 1959 for the term of his duty. Gerry worked for the Marquette Co. Road Commission for 38 years retiring in 2002. Gerry was a longtime member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church and a current member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the AmVets Post #122. Gerry enjoyed Perky's Wednesday Men's Club. His grandchildren meant the world to him. Survivors include his wife Joy A. (LaChance) Dobson, whom he married on Sept. 29, 1962; a daughter Vickie (Paul Talbacka) Morcom; and a son Valgene "Geno" (Nicole) Dobson all of Ishpeming; grandchildren – McKenzie, Lyndsey, Riley Dobson and Kaeleigh Talbacka; 2 brothers – Ed (Karen) Dobson of Ishpeming; Ray (Rita Perrault) Dobson of Negaunee; a sister Joan (Sal) Sarvello of Marquette; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law – Viola & Gordon LaMere of Soumi Loc. and Charles LaChance of Palmer; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3 – 6pm on Sunday January 26, 2014 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. A memorial service will be celebrated at 6:00pm on Sunday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Lindenberg to officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Yvonne Anderson, June Gregorich, Julie Wallima, Sue Lein, Amanda Klumph, Keith Kangas, Diane Hampton, Holly Bjorne, Dr. Lloyd Hooper, Dr. Kenneth Hammerman and Pauline Grawey.
