Ishpeming – Ronald J. Anderson, age 78, of 415 Co. Rd. PPR, Ishpeming passed away on Thursday July 1, 2010 at the Bell Hospital Emergency Room.


Ronald was born June 3, 1932 in Ishpeming the son of the late Philmore and Marian (Laly) Anderson. Ron worked as a miner for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. from 1951-1953. He then served in the United States Army from 1953-1955, having been overseas in Germany during the Korean War. He returned to Ishpeming following his service time, and again worked for C.C.I. until 1958. Ron went on to work as a civilian at the K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base, retiring as a heating plant foreman in 1993 after 33 years at the base.


He was a lifetime member of the Ishpeming V.F.W, Post #4573, and a past commander. He was also a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. Ron enjoyed cooking for family and friends, with spaghetti being a specialty of his. Other hobbies and activities included vegetable gardening, visits to the area casinos, and playing with his pet dog "Mutti". Ron loved to travel and visited all of the 48 continuous states.


Survivors include his wife of 58 years Marlene Anderson of Ishpeming, a son Roy (Marcia) Anderson of Ishpeming, a daughter Rhonda (Fabian) Andriacchi of Ishpeming, 2 sisters – Joan (John) Niemi, Karen Anderson of Ishpeming, 2 brothers – Noel (Diane) Anderson of AZ, James (Janet) Anderson of MA, 3 grandchildren – Michael (fiancée Chelsea) Anderson, Heather (fiancé Tony) Anderson and Christina Andriacchi, an aunt Denise Anderson of Ishpeming, along with several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00pmon Monday July 5, 2010 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Co. Rd. 581, Ishpeming, with the Rev. Warren Geier to officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Monday at the church. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
