Ishpeming- Ronald A. "Porky" Ebner, age 81 of 302 Greenwood St. Ishpeming passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his home while in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health & Hospice.
Ronald was born May 18, 1935 in Ishpeming, MI to Joseph & Martha (Ayotte) Ebner. He graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. Ron worked as a welder for the Marquette County Road Commission, retiring in 1995.
Porky was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, Ishpeming Elks Lodge #447, life member of AMVETS Post 122 of Ishpeming and D.A.V. Chapter 22. He loved spending the summer at camp and hunting and fishing. Enjoyed spending precious times with all his grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and family and friends. Porky enjoyed casino trips. He will miss his quality time with his dog "Halo". Porky was an avid Detroit
Tigers fan.
Porky is survived by his wife Annette (Hill) Ebner, 2 daughters: Rhonda Leppanen (Jason Hoover) of Central Lake, MI, Renee (Cale) Ray of Alpharetta, GA, stepson John Snell of Casper, WY, grandchildren: Artie Hibbard, Justin Leppanen, Ashley Vick, and Mason Ray several nieces and nephews, sister in laws: Vivian Ebner of California, and Donna Ebner of Crystal Falls, MI. Porky was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: John "Ozzie" Ebner, Joseph "Bud" Ebner, sisters: Pearl Coady, Gertrude Dishnow, Jeanette Hebert and Carol King and a sisters in law Ruth Krause and Jeanette Hill.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev Lauri O. Maki officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at the Bethel Lutheran Church from 10:00-11:00 am. A luncheon will follow.
Military Honors will be a accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380.
Memorials may be directed to the Bethel Lutheran Church (parking lot fund) in memory of Porky Ebner.
