Obituary

Ishpeming Twp. – Rocco P. "Jack" Tasson, 84, of 105 N. Daisy Street passed away at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming Twp. where he had been a resident since November of 2006, in the presence of his loving family and dedicated care givers from the Mather Nursing Center and U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Rocco was born August 19, 1923 to the late Dominic and Marian (Umbrello) Tasson in Ishpeming. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked as a Bricklayer in the masonry industry at MacDonald & Kaake among various other contractors for 25 years. He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Rocco enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, going out to camp, and most of all spending time with his family – especially his grandson, Jay, with whom he shared a very special relationship.

Survivors include his wife Mary Jane (Coad) Tasson whom he married on September 17, 1949; one son, Dennis R. (Alberta) Tasson, of Ishpeming; one special grandson, Jay D. (Ali) Tasson, of Bloomington, IN; one brother, Bernard (Betty) Tasson, of Marquette; two sisters – Elizabeth Tasson and Mary R. Tasson both of Ishpeming; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers – Dominic, Vito, Salvatore, James and Joseph Tasson; and sisters - Frances Tasson (his fraternal twin) and Teresa A. Tasson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.on Monday, October 15, 2007, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14th where a parish prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a time of visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Neil Oysti, Glenn Sjoholm, Jay LeRoy, Jason Tasson, Jay Blewett, and Mike Starkey.
