Ely Twp, MI- Robert J. "Bobby Joe" Johnson, Sr., age 80, of Ely Township, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at his residence.

Robert was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on May 22, 1943, a son of the late Raymond E. and Elizabeth (Schaffer) Johnson. Bob graduated from Ishpeming High School.

Bob worked for 30 plus years at the Marquette County Road Commission as a mechanic where he retired from in 2000.

Bob enjoyed working in his wood shop, where he did saw scrolling. He and Marlene enjoyed traveling, taking rides finding the best bargains at auctions, flea markets and yard sales. Over the years Bob had many dogs, which he thoroughly loved them all.

Robert is survived by two sons; Robert J. (Carisa) Johnson Jr, of Iron Mountain; Ron "Tuner" (Denise) Johnson, of Ishpeming; two sisters; Joan Solka and Marianne (Dave) French, along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Alice Johnson, and brother-in-law Ken Saari.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marlene, six sisters; Beverly (Donald) Magnuson, Judith Dixon, Betty (Theodore) Pepin, Shirley (Herbert) Kelly, Jeanette (Doug) McNeil, and Grace Saari, two brothers; Raymond (Ruth) Johnson, and Clarence "Bucky" Johnson, brothers-in-law Andrew Solka and Fred Nault.

Bob's family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00-3:00 pm on Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home.
