Witch Lake – Robert B. Ottoson, age 77, of 4726 Fence River Rd., Republic Twp. passed away on Monday August 31, 2015 at his home while in the loving care care of his family and the Lake Superior Hospice.

Robert was born January 24, 1938 in Norway, MI the son of the late Edmund G. and Alice (Jenkins) Ottoson. He grew up in Norway and was a graduate of the Vulcan High School, Class of 1956. Robert went on to Northern Michigan University and received his bachelor's degree in teaching in 1960. While at Northern he met Gail Embs and they were united in marriage on June 24, 1961.

Gail and Robert moved to Warren, MI shortly after their marriage, where Robert worked as a middle school science teacher for the Centerline School District from 1963 – 1990. They moved to Witch Lake in 1990 with Robert joining the Republic Lions Club where he had served as President and was also District Governor for a period of time. He had also been a member of the Witch Lake Baptist Church. Robert enjoyed feeding the deer on his property along with shoveling snow during the winter months and mowing the grass in the summer months.

Survivors include a son Stephen (Carol) Ottoson of Warren, daughter Erica (Fred) Mattson of Republic, 2 sisters – Bella (Duane) Girard of Hancock, Jeannie (Jack) Singler of Duluth, MN, brother Donny Ottoson of Norway, sister-in-law Maryanne Ottoson of Marquette, 3 grandchildren - Raymond Gould, Brieanna and Erik Ottoson along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Gail Ottoson on March 3, 2014, anda brother David Ottoson.

Honoring Robert's wishes, cremation will take place with no public services to be held.
