Ishpeming Twp- Robert B. Michell, age 81 former Champion resident passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the Mather Nursing Center.
Robert was born February 1, 1932 in Ishpeming to Arthur & Flora (Lajoie) Michell. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He served on a crew for the M-65 Atomic Cannon.
Robert worked for Cleveland Cliff Iron Company for 38 years working as diamond driller, retiring from the Brownstone Shop in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion Post #114 Greenwood and the AMVETS Post #122 of Ishpeming. He enjoyed hunting, and time spent at camp. Robert was an avid Detroit Lions fan.
Robert is survived by 2 sons: Mike Michell and Brian Michell of Champion, a sister Jeanette Hupp of Kenosha, grandchildren: Angela McMullin and Tracy Jourden, great grandchildren: Mason, Reed, and Amira along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beatrice and brothers: Edward and Joseph.
Robert's family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00-2:00p.m on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home where Military Honors will be accorded at 2:00pm by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #380 and the American Legion Post #114.
