Ishpeming – Robert "Bob" James Harvey of 2514 US Hwy 41 W passed away the evening of Monday, July 20, 2009 at Marquette General Hospital following surgery earlier in the week.
Bob was born on May 19, 1938 in Marquette to Patricia (Clancy) and the late James Harvey. He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School Class of 1956 and continued his education by attending Northern Michigan University and received his Mortuary Science Degree from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee, WI.
Bob served in the Michigan National Guard and was an avid fisherman and Detroit Red Wings fan. He was formerly a member of the Ishpeming Elks and a former funeral director at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home where he worked from 1959 until 1970. Bob later worked as a crew coordinator for C.C.I. at the Tilden Mine, retiring in 2000 after 25 years with the company.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Jackie Harvey of Ishpeming, his mother - Patricia Harvey of Ishpeming, a son - Dean Harvey of Ishpeming, a daughter - Suzanne Kempfer of Thornton, CO, granddaughters - Megan and Kayla Kempfer along with several cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his father James Harvey.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 24, 2009 at 3:00pm at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home on Friday.
