Ishpeming – Robert J. "Grub" Hansen, age 52, formerly of 36717 Co Rd 581, Ishpeming passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Mather Nursing Center where he had resided for the past 2 years.  He had been battling M.S. for the past 20 years.

Robert was the son of Judith and David Garceau, and was born to Judith (Uren) and Reuben Hansen in Ishpeming on May 1, 1962.  He grew up in National Mine and was a graduate of the Westwood High School, Class of 1980.  He went on to serve in the United States Navy, having been stationed in Spain.  He returned from the service and moved to South Carolina and then Vanderbilt, MI prior to returning to this area nearly 20 years ago.

Robbie was an avid New York Yankee, and Green Bay Packer fan.  In his youth he enjoyed Little League Baseball.  This past week Robbie enjoyed his 52 ^nd birthday with family and friends.

Survivors include his parents Judith and David Garceau of Ishpeming, 2 brothers – Timothy Hansen and Daniel Hansen both of Ishpeming, along with aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Reuben Hansen in 1998 and a brother David Garceau Jr. in 1985.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 3 – 4pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Co Rd 581, Ishpeming.  A memorial service will follow at 4:00pm on Tuesday with the Rev. Dave Johnson to officiate.
