Obituary

Ishpeming – Robert E. Anderson Jr., affectionately known as "Boo-Boo" or "Nutzy Jr." age 61 of 601 Vine St., Ishpeming passed away on Friday December 2, 2011 at the Emergency Room in Bell Hospital following an apparent heart attack.

Robert was born September 30, 1950 in Ishpeming the son of the late Robert E. and Rose M. (Werner) Anderson Sr. Robert was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1968 and went on to attend NMU for 2 years. Robert served in the Untied States Marine Corp. stateside during the Vietnam War. Robert returned to this area following his service to his country and was employed by C.C.I. He worked first in the warehouse at the Empire Mine and then as a mechanic at the Tilden Mine, retiring in 2003.


Robert was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, where he had been a member of the Church Choir and Church Council. He also attended the Soup Luncheons at the Salvation Army, and loved to do the Snow Plowing for the church and others as well. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 114 where he had played the roll of "Santa" many times. He enjoyed Deer Camp and his many 4-wheeler adventures with family and friends. He also enjoyed going gambling with handsome Norman.

Robert made daily rounds around Ishpeming including coffee clutches at "Buck's" and hanging out at "Hometown Service." His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, as he was always willing to help them out with whatever they needed. He was also fond of his dog and cat. Robert loved auctions and could be counted on to find and bring home almost anything from those stops.

Survivors include 2 daughters – Kimberly (Ralph) Emanuelson and Chanell Anderson both of Ishpeming, 5 granddaughters, a grandson, 2 sisters – Bonnie (Dennis) Bowers of Idaho, and Vicky (Michael) Cowling of Republic, 2 brothers – Richard Anderson of Carlsbad, CA and Kurt Anderson of Ishpeming, an uncle Keith Werner of Jenison, MI along with several nieces, nephews and cousin including a special cousin
Karen Anderson of Ishpeming. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Angel May-Swanson.


A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday December 8, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Kenneth Lahners to officiate.

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #380 will accord military honors at the conclusion of the services. The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 until 5pm on Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church.
