Ishpeming- Rita M. Maki, lifelong Ishpeming area resident, passed away on Monday September 9, 2019 at UP Health System Marquette while in the loving care of her family and hospital staff.

Rita was born in Ishpeming on September 7, 1951, daughter of the late Reino and Anna (Leiviska) Salo. She graduated from Negaunee High School class of 1969. She married William R. Maki on August 1, 1970.

Rita enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to craft sales, and doing word searches.

Rita is survived by her husband- William R. Maki, son- Dan (Sandy) Maki, sister- Judy (Roger) Anderson, grandchildren- Jake and Sarina Maki. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers- Raymond, Donald, and Melvin Salo, special niece- Cindy Cooley-Anderson, and loving dog- Millie.

Following Rita's wishes cremation will take place with no public services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to UPAWS in memory of Rita.
