Ishpeming, MI- Richard Wayne "Rich" Yelland, age 57, an Ishpeming resident, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at his residence.

Richard was born in Toledo, OH on July 23, 1965, a son of the late Wayne Douglas and Winifred Jane (Van Luvender) Yelland. Rich grew up on Mehl Lake where he graduated from Gwinn High School, Class of 1983. He furthered his education at ITT in Grand Rapids where he received an Electronics Engineering Technology Applied Associates Degree.

Rich worked many years as a Technician and Supervisor in Electronics and Plastic Mold Injection manufacturing.

Richard had a creative spirit and exuberant enthusiasm for the outdoors ,bowling, swimming, golfing and tinkering on his cars. He had a deep love of computers, electrical gadgets, science fiction novels, Movies, Television and older model cars and jeeps.

Richard's passion for chess started thru his father, his school years and then he passed the tradition down to his daughter to play as well.

Richard is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Noreen Yelland, of Stanton, MI; three brothers, Brian (Michelle Van Berkom) Yelland, of Union, WA; Stephen Paul (Signe) Yelland, of Dayton, OH; Gregory A. Yelland, of Gwinn, and a sister Elizabeth Jayne (Karroll Bohnak) Yelland of Negaunee, along with nieces and nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his parents.
