Bristol, VA -Richard Manninen Sr. age 75 longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away on April 25, 2012. Richard was born to Gladys and Arne Manninen on July 4th, 1936. He served 10 yeas in the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy he started working at CCI in Ishpeming Michigan. He retired on March 31, 1996 after 30 years of employment.

He is survived by his three children, Richard Manninen Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA, Sherry Cruz (Joe) of Bristol, VA, and Theresa Warner (Dan) of High Point, NC; three grandchildren: Carrie Ormiston, Nichole Graham (Anthony), and Jolie Manninen; one sister Charlotte Valenti (Victor) of Ishpeming. He is also survived his three great grandchildren: Brianna, Samantha, and Mathew, and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Gladys and Arne; brothers, Tommy and Robert; and sister Carol Lindeman.

Richard will be remembered for his big heart, and great sense of humor.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12:00 noon Friday, May 4, 2012 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.

A memorial service will follow at 12:00 noon with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a lunch at the church after the service.
