Ishpeming Twp- Richard W. Millimaki, age 67 of 290 Silver St. Ishpeming passed away Sunday September 20, 2015 at the UP Health System Marquette.
Richard was born June 9, 1948 in Ishpeming to Matt & Irene (Hahka) Millimaki. He was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School and went on to serve his country in the US Army. Richard served 6 years in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company as a driller at the Empire Mine, retiring in 2004.
Richard was a life member of the Ishpeming V.F.W. Post 4573, the Riverside Club and the Ishpeming ELKS Lodge #447. He enjoyed playing cribbage and playing baseball in his younger years and later coaching baseball.
Richard is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marilyn (Franson) Millimaki, a brother David J. Millimaki of Ishpeming, step children Lisa Lewis, Patricia Gundeff and Betty Sallengs, brothers in law Steve (Vicki) Contois, Jerry Franson, sisters in law Jean Topliff and Sue Johnson, along with many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bernie Millimaki, brothers in law Paul & Ralph Franson.
Richard's family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday September 24th from 1:00-2:00pm at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home where a Military Honors service will be conducted by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380 at 2:00pm.
A potluck luncheon will be held at the Ishpeming VFW following the service.
