Ishpeming – Richard C. "Biv" Bergman, 83, of 743 S. Pine St. Ishpeming passed away on Monday evening at his home in Ishpeming. He had been in ill health for the past few months.
Richard was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI on October 8, 1925, the son of the late Richard and Gladys (Williams) Bergman. He graduated from Ishpeming High School after faithfully serving in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. In 1946, Richard was honorably discharged from the Navy and married Audrey Boase on September 11, 1948. He went on to work as a fabricator at the General Shops in Ishpeming for Cleveland Cliffs, retiring in 1988. Richard was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participating in various sporting events throughout the years.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years: Audrey (Boase) Bergman of Ishpeming, daughters: Bobbi J. (Douglas) Anderson of Green Bay, Bonnie R. (Robert) Jacobson of Ishpeming, Sons: Richard C. (Susan) Bergman of Ishpeming, Ronald J. (Carol) Bergman of Ishpeming, Roger L. (Joanne) Bergman of Ishpeming, Rob A. (Milissa) Bergman of Green Bay, and Randy P. (Cheryl) Bergman of Ishpeming, and a brother: Robert R. Bergman. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Danny & Michael Bergman, Adam & Ryan Bergman, Chelsee Bal & Jenna Bergman, Jeffrey Jacobson & Jodi Eliason, Lyndsey & Hailey Bergman, Justin, Jennifer, Jacob & Jillian Anderson, 5 step-grandchildren: Michelle Herzog, Anthony & Michael Lenten, Amy Miller & Angela Richer, great grandchildren: Kaleb and Ashton Bergman, 7 step great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law: Mary Moore of Ishpeming, Shirley (Francis) Wills of Iron River, Donna Bergman of Ishpeming, and numerous nieces and nephews
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, brother: Reynold Bergman, 2 brothers-in-law: Donald Connors & Gerald Moore, and a sister-in-law Lorraine Connors.
Funeral Services will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming, at 4:00PM on Friday, April 3rd, with Rev. Scott Lindenberg officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday from 2:00PM until the time of services at the church. Interment will be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service.
Pallbearers will be Richard's grandsons.
