Palmer, MI – Rhoda Marilyn Jarvi, age 86, longtime resident of 310 Nicholas Ave., Palmer passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:20pm at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility where she was admitted earlier that day.
Marilyn was born November 27, 1929 in Palmer the daughter the late of Sid and Edith (Liquia) Hill and was a lifetime resident of Palmer. She was a mother and homemaker. Marilyn enjoyed spending winters in Apache Junction, AZ with her husband Stanley, and also most summers camping at the AmVets south of Ishpeming. Marilyn was a past member of the AmVets, VFW and Eagles Auxiliaries. She was a mother and homemaker known for her cooking and baking. She also loved to read.
Marilyn is survived by her 5 children: Ron (Linda) Niemi of Ishpeming, Daryl and Sid Niemi both of Palmer, Wayne (Karen) Niemi of Gwinn and Scott (Julie) Jarvi of Ishpeming, grandchildren – Ron (Teri) Niemi, Lori (Mike) Lancour, Jason (Lisa) Niemi, Kevin (Mary) Niemi, Daniel Niemi, Kenneth and Tony Washburn, Preston (Tina) Niemi and Shayla (Jeff Rankinen) Niemi, along with 21 great grandchildren and a special niece Kate Peterson.
She was preceded in death by a step-son Steve Jarvi, husband Stanley Jarvi in 2003, step-father – Dan Brady, 3 brothers – Robert and Paul Collick and Jack Hill, 7 sisters – Gladys Marietti, Charlotte Oster, Evelyn Kecker, Mary Margaret Brady, Aurora Barry, Betty Jarvi and Louise Koski.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at a later date in the spring.
