Obituary
Ishpeming- Rhea L. (Powelson) Kippola, age 91 formerly of 98 Croix St. Negaunee, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. She passed away at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she has been living for two years.
Rhea was born September 28, 1922 to Lester and Edith (Horton) Kaufman in Breckenridge, Michigan. She was co-owner of the Blue Spruce Restaurant and Moore House of Munising, worked for Montgomery Wards and most recently R.G. Williams Medical Clinic. Rhea was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Ishpeming. She was a loving and cherished Mother, Grandmother, and dear friend who will be remembered for her love and faith in Jesus Christ.
Rhea is survived by two sons: Donald (Shirley) Powelson of Gladstone, MI, Phillip (Pat) Powelson of Anchorage, AK, one daughter Bonnie (Jerry) Ely of Negaunee, MI, seven grandchildren: Larry (Christina) Powelson, Bart (Michelle) Powelson, Stacy Powelson, Chad (Ginger) Powelson, Mark (Nikki) Ely, Amy (David) Chard and Rhea (Richard) Longcor, 16 great grandchildren: Molly, Chelsie, Tony Powelson, Vicky, Roxanne Powelson, Joshua Frysinger, Alex Schwieterman, Jessica (Greg) Ahrns, Elizabeth, & Ethan Ely, Rachel & Matthew Chard, Makayla & Kassie Longcor, Madelin & Gabriella Powelson, two sisters: Martha Powelson and Evelyn (Don) Graham. Rhea was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Paul, Russell and Leonard Kaufman, her grandson Scott Powelson and great granddaughter Rheela Powelson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Bible Baptist Church in Ishpeming with Pastor James Hill and Pastor Ben Marx officiating. A luncheon at the church will follow the service.
Rhea's family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at the Bible Baptist Church from 11:00am until the time of service at 12:00 noon.
The family wants to thank the MCMCF staff and Dr. Michael Grossman for all their loving care they provided to Mom.
