Ishpeming- Reuben A. Koski, age 94 life long Ishpeming resident passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at UP Health System Bell.
Reuben was born April 15, 1922 in Ishpeming to Alfred A. & Elizabeth (Honkala) Koski. He was a 1939 graduate of the Ishpeming High School and he served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Reuben worked as an underground miner for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company at the Mather A & B Mines for 15 years. He went on to be self employed in the real estate business. He was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. Reuben enjoyed time spent at camp; hunting and fishing, along with berry picking, he was also an avid gardener.
Reuben is survived by his wife Helen M. (Maki) Koski, whom he married on September 29, 1950, and numerous nieces & nephews. Reuben was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Alfred Jr., Arthur, George, Oscar and John Koski, 6 sisters: Lillian Sarberg, Eleanor Callahan, Anna Heikkinen, Martha Bennett, Evelyn Laksonen and Edna Mae Oja, and 2 brothers in law: Toivo & Bill Maki.
Funeral services for Reuben will be held 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Roger Kangas to officiate. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00pm at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home.
