Ely Twp- Reino H. Rytilahti, age 90 of 485 Mullins Dr. Ishpeming, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming.

Reino was born May 27, 1918 in Republic to Hendrick W & Hilma (Laurila) Rytilahti. He owned & operated his family's dairy farm as a young man, later working as a logger and most recently he worked construction as a carpenter.

Reino was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America Local Union 1510 and the Republic Area Historical Society. Reino was an avid reader and enjoyed story telling. Reino was an outdoorsman who liked fishing, smelting and bear hunting.

Reino is survived by his wife of 65 years Gertrude (Autio) Rytilahti, 2 daughters: Sharon Usher of Northport, MI & Rojean Rawlings of Lakeland, FL, a brother Elden (Ann) Rytilahti of Prairie du Chien, WI, 4 grandchildren: Steffani (Greg) Green Leaf, Rebecca (Thai) Bui, Marnie (Ray) Selvidio, and Chelsea Rawlings, 2 great grandchildren, Heather Bui and Brianna Selvidio, 4 nephews Richard Antilla, Mark, Ray and Michael Rytilahti and a niece Karen Richards. Reino was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Martha Rytilahti, Helen Gough and Sylvia Antilla and a brother Helmer Rytilahti.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Humboldt Township Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Bethel Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.
