Ishpeming, MI – Raymond G. Rohdenburg, age 68 of 213 S. Second St., Ishpeming passed away on Thursday May 19, 2011 while surrounded by his loving wife and in the care of staff members at the Mather Nursing Center and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice while at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming Twp.
Raymond was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York on January 15, 1943 the son of the late Herman and Luella (Kurfurst) Rohdenburg. He grew up in New York and went on to serve his country during the Vietnam War. Ray returned home following the war and followed his family to Alaska, namely Moose Creek where he worked as a cook in the family restaurant "Mama C's". Ray enjoyed motorcycles and rode throughout the United States, and was considered a free spirit. Other than Alaska, Ray resided in Portland, OR and Barstow, CA prior to arriving in Ishpeming, MI just a short period ago.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Rohdenburg of Ishpeming, a step-son – James Snyder of Ishpeming, 2 sisters – Carol Rohdenburg of Washington State and Georgette (John) Catiller of North Pole, Alaska, 2 step-grandchildren – Christopher Snyder and James Snyder Jr. He was preceded in death by a brother Skip Rohdenburg along with his parents.
In accordance with Ray's wishes, cremation has taken place and his cremains will be scattered in Alaska.
