Ishpeming- Raymond J. Meyer, age 80 of 34794 Co. Rd. 581 Ishpeming (Ely Twp) passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at UP Health System Marquette.

Raymond was born January 7, 1936 in Kingsford, MI to the late Walter R. & Lois A. (Francis) Meyer. Ray graduated from Negaunee High School and he served in the Michigan National Guard. Ray worked 31 years for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company, working as a plant repairman, he retiring in 1998 from the Tilden Mine.

Raymond served as a board member on the Marquette County Fair Board, was a member of the Marquette County Horse Club, and the Upper Peninsula Horseman's Association. Ray and his late wife Joyce loved raising full size and miniature show horses; they enjoyed traveling and were members of the Good Sam camping club. Ray enjoyed tinkering in his garage and he will be missed by his loyal pet Shih Tzu "Misty".

Raymond is survived by 3 children: Lori Perry of Iron River, MI, Kevin (Georgia) Meyer of Tucson, AZ and Roberta "Bobbi" (Dave Miller) Meyer of Ishpeming, a sister: Pauline (Marvin) Jordahl of Jacksonville, FL, 2 grandchildren: Eric (Anne) Meyer and Troy (fiancé Shelby) Meyer, along with many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and wife Joyce in 2013.

Raymond's family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm on Friday February 5, 2016 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm with Rev. Phyllis DeWitt officiating. Inurnment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
