Republic- Raymond D. Magnuson, age 85, longtime Republic resident, passed away on Friday March 12, 2021 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of nursing home staff.

Raymond was born in Ishpeming on March 15, 1935 son of the late George and Eva (St. Andre) Magnuson. He graduated from Republic High School with the class of 1954. Ray worked as a customer service technician with Union Carbide Company for many years.

Ray was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic, he enjoyed fixing things, spending time on his back porch, doing jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with his family.

Ray is survived by his daughter- Nola (Jeff) Mark, 3 grandchildren- Zachary Mark, Adam Mark, Eric (Mersadies) Mark, special companion of 17 years - Hannah Wixtrom and her family as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Wanda (Hocking) Magnuson, 2 children- Raymond Jr. and an infant son, 2 brothers- Donald and Clyde Magnuson.

Raymond's family will greet relatives and friends at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic from 11:00am until 12:00 noon on Saturday March 20, 2021. A private service will follow. Burial will take place in the Republic Cemetery in the spring.
