Ishpeming- Raymond G. "Ray" Lenten, age 89 formerly of 111 Bluff St. #301 Ishpeming passed away Sunday May 24, 2015 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where he had been a resident for the past 10 days.
Raymond was born October 25, 1925 in Negaunee to John & Janie (Bath) Lenten. He graduated from Negaunee High School class of 1943. Ray worked for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company for 35 plus years. He worked at the Mather B Mine for many years as a supply clerk and retired in 1982 from the main office as a cashier.
Ray was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church where he held various church positions. He was an accomplished musician, playing the saxophone for many dance bands locally and around the U.P. Ray was a member of the Pioneer Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed golfing and watching his grandchildren in their sporting events.
Ray is survived by 3 children: Stephen (Janis) Lenten of Millheim, PA, Bonnie (Stephen) Roberts of Ishpeming, and Julie (Kurt) Lehmann of Ishpeming, 4 grandchildren: Christopher Roberts, Erick (Chelsea) Roberts, Andrew (Amalia) Lehmann and Jacob (Catherine) Lehmann, a great grandson Ayden Roberts along with several nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his wife Dona Lenten, sisters: Izetta Anderson, Mertle Lakari, Eleanor Andrews, Elizabeth Dompierre, Marjorie Maki, Gertrude Symons, and 3 brothers: Wilfred Lenten, Nick Lenten and Melvin Lenten
A memorial service for Ray will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Saturday May 30, 2015 at the United Presbyterian Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Leon Jarvis officiating. Ray's family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of the service at 12:00 noon.
A luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Grossman and the staff of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for their kindness and excellent care.
