Ishpeming – Raymond "Skeeter" Fredin – 72, of 814 Maple St. Ishpeming passed away on Monday March 23, 2009 at his home.

Raymond was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on September 21, 1936, the son of the late Alfred and Laura (Christopher) Fredin. He grew up in Ishpeming, and married Lois Herman in July of 1961. They moved to Zion, IL for 16 years working for US Steel / Cyclone Fence. They moved back to the Ishpeming area in 1977. He worked as a maintenance man at the UPPCO (Wisconsin Electric) Power Plant in Marquette for 21 years, retiring in 1998.

Skeeter was a member of the Wawanowin Country Club and thoroughly enjoyed golf. He was passionate cribbage player and was a member of the Ishpeming Cribbage League participating in many cribbage tournaments, and also ran some local tournaments. Skeeter enjoyed fishing, spending time at camp on the Dead River Basin, singing, and sporting events, especially when his kids and grandkids were playing. He also took pleasure in trips he and Lois would take to see their family throughout the country.

Skeeter is survived by his wife of 48 years Lois (Herman) Fredin of Ishpeming, daughter: Julie (Steve) Albrecht of Napa, CA, sons: Steve (Andrea) Fredin of Ortonville, MI, Gary (Susan) Fredin of Summerville, SC, Brad (Tiffany) Fredin of Negaunee, sister-in-law: Ruth Fredin of Ishpeming, 9 grandchildren: Sarah, Erinn, Claire, Emma, Kaitie, Carley Fredin, Chad, Kelsea Albrecht, and Kevin Solaka, along with several nieces and nephews. Skeeter was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers - Alfred and Donald Fredin, and sister - Betty Contois.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming at 1:00PM on Friday, March 27th, with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from 11:00AM until the time of services at 1:00PM at the funeral home.
