Obituary

Ishpeming Twp- Raymond Paul Harnett, age 53 of 200 N. Marigold St. Ishpeming, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at his home under the loving care of his family and Lake Superior Hospice after a 7 year courageous battle with cancer.


Raymond was born June 2, 1957 to Adele (Perrault) and the late Kenneth Harnett. He graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1975. Ray worked for Cleveland Cliffs for 30 years retiring in 2008 from the Empire Mine as a warehouse attendant. Ray was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.


Ray enjoyed spending time at his camp and had a passion for vehicles, especially Jeeps. He enjoyed many things in life but most important to him was his family and friends. Ray also loved animals always having a pet dog. Anyone who met Ray enjoyed his ability to talk about anything and his genuine love of life.


Ray is survived by his soul mate whom he married December 3, 1983 Julie (Johnson) Harnett, his mother Adele Harnett, his daughter Sarah Harnett of Negaunee, a brother Michael (Brenda) Harnett of Ishpeming, a sister Adele (Gary) Price of Negaunee, brother in laws and sister in laws; Ray "Buck" (JoAnn) Johnson of Ishpeming, Carol Massie of Ishpeming, Barb Barwick of Stevens Point, Lynn Roberts of Ishpeming, Dennis (Pam) Johnson of Stevens Point, Lisa (Tony) Pellonpaa of Ishpeming, Mary (Eric) Luttinen of Ishpeming, Marcia (Mike) Wilson of Pulaski and Donna (Mike) Vanstraten of Negaunee along with several nieces and nephews that he thought the world of and an extended family he was close to. Ray was preceded in death by his father Ken Harnett his father and mother in law Ray & Ruth Johnson and brother in law Mike Johnson.


A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:00PM on Friday, November 26, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr James Challancin officiating.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.


Honorary Pallbearers will be Dan Sleeman, Bill Zhulkie, "Buck" Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Bill Rader, Tony Pellonpaa and Eric Luttinen.
