Diorite- Randi J. Laakso, age 67, lifelong area resident, passed away on Friday November 17, 2023 at her son's home while in the loving care of her family, and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Randi was born in Ishpeming on March 6, 1956, daughter of the late Arthur and Anona (Sundlie) Quayle. She was a graduate of Ishpeming High School with the class of 1974. Randi and her husband Alan were together for 50 years, and were married at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming on August 2, 1975. She worked for the City of Ishpeming as a code enforcement officer for many years.
Randi was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, beadwork, watching the Packers, and spending time with her grandchildren. Anyone that knew Randi were blessed with a kind and loving friend. She was never too busy to listen and offer her prayers for those in need. Our love for her was returned a hundred fold, without any expectations or stipulations. We will certainly miss her, but know that she has been welcomed into the arms of our Lord and is at peace.
Randi is survived by her husband- Alan Laakso, 2 children- Jeremy (Karen) Laakso, Jennie (Josh) Oberg, 2 siblings- Cheryl "Shay" (Harv) Rutherford, William R. "Bill" (Cher) Quayle, 7 grandchildren- Ryan (Olivia) Laakso, Jacob (Kelly) Laakso, Hunter (Makenzie) Laakso, Bethany (Jackson) Laakso, Kaiden (Gracie) Miller, Gavinn Miller, Kinzleigh Pietila, great grandson- Clark Laakso, her sisters-in-law Barb (Steve) Liubakka, Sherry (Gordie) Murray, Joyce Cote, her brother-in-law Bruce "Butch" (Mary Jane) Laakso, her good friend- Nancy Jaykka, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, son- Jason Laakso, mother and father-in-law- Shirley and Muna Laakso, and brother-in-law- Walt Anderson.
Following Randi's wishes, cremation will take place with a private service for her immediate family to be held at a later date.
