Republic, MI- Rachael M. Kuzma, age 81, Republic resident passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.

Rachael was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on August 29, 1940, a daughter of the late Jalmer and Sylvia E. (Suomi) Mattson. She graduated from Republic High School, Class of 1958.

Rachael was a homemaker and worked at Arola's Bottling Works, and Erickson's Potato Fields. She enjoyed cleaning, crocheting, reading, recipe books and painting. Rachael was a member of First Baptist Church of Witch Lake.

Rachael is survived by her husband Peter Kuzma Sr., whom she married on May 21, 1960, two children; Peter Kuzma Jr. and Shelly (Aaron) Wixtrom, step-daughter; Teresa (Steve) Buchina, two brothers; Robert (Judy) Mattson, and Raymond (Delores) Mattson, her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom referred to her as "Bubba," grandchildren; Audrey McCarty, and Tyler (Kara) McCarty, great grandchildren; Kylee West, Lillian, Lainey, Elsie McCarty, a niece Lori (Scott) Gauthier, a nephew; Raymond (Brenda) Mattson, adopted son; Todd (Patti) Rankinen, special aunt, Arlene Suomi, and special friend, Marilyn Helmila.

Rachael was preceded in death by her Parents, an infant brother, a niece Julie Voegtline, and sister-in-law, Kay Mattson.

A graveside service for family and friends will be will be held at 11:00am on Saturday June 4, 2022 at the Republic Twp Cemetery.

Memorial considerations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org in memory of Rachael.
