Ishpeming, MI- Pius Augustus Arseneau, age 91, of Ishpeming, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at his home while in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Pius was born in Ishpeming, on August 7, 1927, son of the late Cordelia (LaJoie) and Oscar Arseneau.  Pius married Agnes Junak on October 20, 1951, in Ishpeming where they raised their family.  They were married for 61 years.

Pius served in the U.S. Army in Panama.  He received a technical school certificate in TV and radio electronics. Pius worked for Cleveland Cliffs as an instrumentation repairman retiring in 1994 after 28 years.

Pius was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ishpeming Cribbage League. He was an avid rock collector, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and spending time at camp.  He also enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and storytelling with his siblings, square dancing with his wife, and making family movies with the latest technology available.

Pius is survived by a daughter, Paula (Jeffrey) Nelson of Superior, CO; five sons, Terry (Jeanne) Arseneau of Dansville, MI, Gary Arseneau of Ishpeming, Jerry (Darlene) Arseneau of Ishpeming, Barry (Ronalyn) Arseneau of Champion, and Cary Lee (Emily) Arseneau of Ishpeming; 12 grandchildren, Jessie (Eric) Swinehart, Michael (Michelle) Arseneau, Christopher Arseneau, Jason (Amy) Arseneau, Ashlee (Kyle) Kinnunen, Amber (Kyle) Kollmar, Alyssa (Jeffrey) Choate, Bryan Arseneau, Benjamin (fiancée Samantha McFarling) Nelson, Sarah (Jimmy) Tennant, Becky Nelson, and Samuel Arseneau; and 12 great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pius was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son Larry Arseneau, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.

Pius's family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm with Rev. Lauri Maki to officiate.

Inurnment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.

Memorials may be directed to UP Home Health and Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Church in memory of Pius Arseneau.
