Ishpeming- Phyllis Lorraine Petersen, age 93, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at her son's home while in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Phyllis was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on September 2, 1926, a daughter of the late Mayme S. (Koskinen) and Einar A. Anderson. Phyllis graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1944 and from the Chicago School of Nursing.  She worked part time as an LPN at Bell Memorial Hospital.

Phyllis was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where she participated in The Bethel Series (Bible Study).  She was an avid reader and owned the Book Rack Book Store in Ishpeming.  Phyllis took up the game of golf at the age of 54 and was a member of the Wawonowin Golf Club where she was a past Women's Club Champion, and a member of The Country Club of Green Valley in Arizona. Phyllis loved playing bridge and was considered a very accomplished bridge player.  With her loving and caring nature, she took the roll of being a care giver to her elderly relatives and friends.

Phyllis is  survived by four children; Joel (Melody) Petersen, Tom (Pat) Petersen, Gary (Peggy) Petersen, all of Ishpeming, and Lorraine (Michael) Meschede of Glendale, AZ, grandchildren: Debbie Petersen, Jeff (Nichole) Petersen, Tanya (Neal) Pietro, Brad (Kristin) Petersen, Amy (Ryan) Christensen, Christopher (Kiira) Petersen, Jamie (Kevin) Snyder, Daniel Petersen, Karen (Jeremy) Laakso, Eric (Rebecca) Konster,  19 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews including Mary Jo (Tom) Connors, and Peter Maxwell.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernhardt "Buck" Petersen, granddaughter Natalie Petersen, and 2 sisters: Corrine Maxwell and Jeanette Vogel.

Phyllis's family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
