Crystal Falls - Phyllis E. Locke, age 102, longtime Ishpeming area resident, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Iron County Medical Care Facility where she had resided for nearly 6 years.

Phyllis was born in Gwinn, Michigan on October 15, 1918, a daughter of the late Dolly (Brunstrom) and Louis Sarasin.  She was a graduate of the Gwinn High School, Class of 1936.  Phyllis worked as a seamstress at the H W Gossard Co. for several years. She then worked as a cook locally at the American Cafe and Johnny's Restaurant.

Phyllis was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She had been a life member of the Ishpeming VFW auxiliary and participated in the Ishpeming-Negaunee Cribbage League and had been active at the Ishpeming Senior Center. Phyllis enjoyed helping people and did volunteer work at the Eastwood Nursing Center and at the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

Phyllis is survived by two sons - Keith E. (Marlene) Locke of Iron River and Wayne V. (Linda) Locke of East Point; 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband - Edwin in 1987, 5 sisters - Violet Setter, Bernice Zanetti, Irene Adams, Shirley DesRochers, Margery Secunda and two brothers Raymond and Elmer Sarasin.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the Gwinn Cemetery with Rev. Matt Osborne to officiate.
