Negaunee- Phyllis Marie (Marley) DeWitt, age 86, Negaunee resident and former Ishpeming resident passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at UP Health System Bell.
Phyllis was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 14, 1934, a daughter of the late Henry P. and Alma I. (Biehy) Marley.
Phyllis worked many years at Nelson Chevrolet in Negaunee and was their office manager for many years. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Ishpeming where she served as a Priest of the church.
Phyllis enjoyed quilting, knitting, learning musical instruments, playing Mahjong and bridge. She loved playing golf and had been a member of Wawonowin Country Club. She belonged to the Ishpeming Blue Notes Parents Club where her children were involved with the Blue Notes and belonged to Al-Anon.
Phyllis is survived by her husband E. Leonard DeWitt, whom she married on November 20, 1954 in Dearborn, MI, 4 children: Patrick (Becky) DeWitt, Paula (Stephen) Strom, Julia (Greg Elmquist) Kangas, and William (Jennifer) DeWitt, 11 grandchildren: Nathan (Amy Moyle) DeWitt, Matthew (JoeLa) DeWitt, Luke DeWitt, Taylor (Cody Chartier) DeWitt, Allison Strom, Elizabeth (Grant) Kinney, William (Sarah) Kangas Jr., Angela Kangas, Phillip Kangas, Sebastian DeWitt, Nathanael DeWitt, 8 great grandchildren, sister Lois Marshall, and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her Parents.
Phyllis's family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday October 17, 2021, at the Grace Episcopal Church in Ishpeming where her funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm, with Bishop Rayford Ray officiating.
A luncheon will follow at the Ishpeming ELKS Lodge.
