Republic, MI – Phyllis (Mattila) Czimer, age 97, former Republic resident, passed away on August 16, 2014 near here home in Lockport, IL.
Phyllis was born and raised in Republic where she had graduated from high school. Following high school, Phyllis moved to the Chicago, IL area where she became a beautician and worked for many years. While in Illinois she met and married Richard Czimer and together they raised 3 children.
Survivors include 2 sons – Richard Czimer of Lockport, IL, and William (Darla) Czimer of Yukon, OK, 3 grandchildren - Matthew, Erin and April, a great grandson Christopher, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband – Richard Czimer, daughter Roxanne Czimer, 4 sisters - Florence Dowd, Frances Hoffbauer, Ersie and Joyce Mattila and a brother Alger Mattila.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10am until 11am on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am on Friday with the Rev. Kevin Kaiser to officiate. Interment will take place at the Republic Cemetery.
