Obituary

Ishpeming – Peter Michael Cain, age 58, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at his home in Ishpeming due to complications from his cancer which he had been battling for the past year.

Peter was born June 10, 1957 in Ishpeming the son of the late Bruce G. and Jean M. (Sarah) Cain. Peter was a lifelong Ishpeming resident and graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1975. During his high school years he had worked at several area restaurants. After high school, Peter was employed by the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. (Cliffs Natural Resources) where he worked for 39 years, retiring this past December. While at Cliffs he worked mainly at the Tilden Mine as a Welder and Repairman but had also done stints at the Brownstone and Empire Mine. Peter married Debbie Nadeau on April 15, 1978 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.

Peter was a member of the Bethany Lutheran. He was also a member of the Ishpeming Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and a member of the Ishpeming Elks. He was an avid sports fan supporting the Ishpeming Hematites, Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Tigers. Peter most enjoyed spending time with his family and was a proud Pa-Pa to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Debbie Cain of Ishpeming, 3 daughters – Addy (Joseph) Lemire of Ishpeming, Winter (Dan) Bailey of Munising and Lindsey (Jay) Piercefield of Chandler, AZ, a brother David (Paula) Cain Sr. of Negaunee, a sister Pamela Cain (Rob Brady) of Ishpeming; grandchildren Faith Cain and Peter Lemire, and step-granddaughter Olivia, his aunt Shirley Roberts, whom he had a special relationship with, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Peter's family will greet relatives and friends from 2 until 4pm on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. Memorial Services will follow at 4:00pm on Monday at the Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Warren Geier to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A meal will be served in the church hall following the services.

Memorials may be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund or the Ishpeming Volunteer Fire Dept. in memory of Peter.
