Ishpeming- Penny J. Carlson, age 51, of 13 Lawer Dr. in Ely Township died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at her home.
Penny was born November 13, 1956 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Ella (Cairns) and the late Robert Densmore. She moved to the Ishpeming area in 1965 and has resided here since.
Penny graduated from the National Mine High School in 1974 and then married her soul mate Dean Carlson in July of 1974.
Penny enjoyed reading, cooking for everyone (especially on Sundays), outdoors, animals, wine making, and spending time at camp with friends and family. She was a life member of the ladies auxiliary Negaunee VFW Post 3165. Most of all, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her two grandchildren were the light of her life, and although their time with her was very short, they will both be blessed by knowing her.
Penny's memory will live on forever through her husband of 33 years, Dean, a son Keith (Amanda) Carlson of Ishpeming, a daughter Brandi (Tom) Petrocik of Negaunee, a granddaughter Alli Carlson, a grandson Cooper Petrocik, 3 grand-dogs: Britney, Blue and Libby, her mother Ella Alderton of Ishpeming, 3 sisters: Elaine (Steve) Anderson of Ishpeming, Marsha (Richard) Fraser of Ishpeming, Tammi (Mike) Daily of Manly, IA, 2 brothers: Fred (Rita) VanLuven of National Mine and Mike Alderton of National Mine, a step-brother Barry (Shana) Alderton of National Mine, a step-sister Sandy (Greg) LeClair of National Mine, an uncle George (Betty) Cairns of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, her in-laws Dean and Dolly Carlson of Ishpeming, a brother-in-law David Carlson of Ishpeming, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert Densmore, her step-father Fred "Adu" Alderton, her sister Patti Nickerson-Manning and her niece Angie Nickerson.
At Penny's request, there will be no funeral services. She would like her memory to live on in the lives of those she has touched. The family welcomes all to join them at the Tilden Township Hall for a luncheon to celebrate Penny's life on Thursday, February 7, 2008 from 4:00-6:00PM.
