Michigamme – Mary M. "Peggy" Barauskas, age 74, of 21941 S. Olson Lake Dr., Spurr Twp. passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had been a resident for the past week.
Peggy was born May 5, 1944 in Ishpeming, MI the daughter of the late Frank and Emerald (Dishnow) Hosey. She was a graduate of the St. Paul's High School in Negaunee with he Class of 1962. Peggy worked for the KBIC at the New Day Treatment Center as an Addiction Counselor for 22 years retiring in 2014. She recently attended the Ojibwa Community College where she excelled at creative writing and poetry.
Peggy was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion. Peggy was also an active member of AA for the past 30 years. She loved spending time in the woods, going for walks, 4-wheeler rides and swimming.
Survivors include her husband Paul Barauskas of Michigamme whom she married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3 daughters – Laura (Craig) Thompson of Champion, Beth Lamphere of Traverse City, Amy (Gary) Uuro of Ishpeming, 2 brothers – Joseph "Patrick" (Joanne) Hosey of Trout Lake and Michael (Jeanann) Hosey of Michigamme, 9 grandchildren – Lyndsey Rivord, Alisha & Amber Thompson, Brandon Chamberlain, Sierra Malone, DJ Rye, Erica Josephson, Jennifer and Elizabeth Uuro, 14 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30am – 11:00am on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Dan Moll to officiate. Interment will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery in Michigamme.
Memorials may be directed to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Memorial Fund in Peggy's memory.
