Marquette- Paul J. DeLongchamp, age 76 of Brooksville FL and a seasonal Marquette resident passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Marquette General Hospital.

Paul was born August 12, 1932 in Ishpeming to A. Roy & Marcella (Morin) Delongchamp. Paul graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1950. Starting as a clerk in the local mining industry, he learned accounting on the job and made it his profession. During his career he traveled the world, working in Brazil, Vietnam, Thailand and Liberia. Paul spent 25 years working for the Firestone Tire Company in Liberia advancing to Senior Comptroller for Firestone's vast rubber plantation.

In his spare time, Paul enjoyed playing the piano and the organ. He taught himself how to play as a youth. He could play an extraordinary number of songs from memory and had the unique ability to play unfamiliar songs just by hearing the melody.

Paul is survived by a brother Charles (Marilyn) DeLongchamp of Ishpeming, sister-in-law Shirley DeLongchamp, 7 nieces & nephews: Bob (Gerry) DeLongchamp of Whitehall, AR, Sue Danielson of Golden, CO, Anne (Bob) Pecotte of Harvey, Stephen (Heidi) DeLongchamp of Ishpeming, Mary (Howard) Robare of Negaunee, Barb (Barry) Dale of Ishpeming and Cathy (John) Hoffman of Washburn, WI along with many great- nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy DeLongchamp.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. James Challancin officiating. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.

Family & friends may call St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. A reception will follow the service in the church hall.
