Obituary

Republic - Patrick "Pudge" L. Stahl, age 53, of 191 Cedar St., Republic, MI, passed away at the Bell Memorial Emergency Room on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 following an apparent heart attack at work.


Patrick was born in Kellogg, Idaho on March 10, 1954 to Thaddeus and Patricia (Couture) Stahl. He was a 1973 graduate of Champion High School and an employee of Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. for 34 years, most recently working at the Empire Mine as a Pellet Plant Control Room Operator.

"Pudge" loved antiques, doing crossword puzzles, fishing, prospecting and watching Court TV. Pat was also a marathon runner and placed high in several marathon runs. He also enjoyed traveling and had visited Japan, Hong Kong, Canada, Vermont, and Hawaii. Woodworking and remodeling were among "Pudge's" hobbies. He was a real craftsman and donated many things to the Republic Historical Museum.

Survivors include his mother Patricia Stahl of Ishpeming; Daughter: Kara DuPont of Marquette; Grandchildren: Alex & Gabe DuPont of Marquette to which "Pudge" was an extremely proud and loving grandpa; Sisters: Diane (John) Hytinen of Ishpeming Robin (Tom) Heikkila of Champion, &Julie (Steve) McCoy of Ishpeming; Brothers: Ted (Donna) Stahl of Hesperus, CO, Danny (Sandy) Stahl of Tulsa, OK, & David (Cheryl) Stahl of Lake Linden, MI, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Teresa "Tweets" Stahl on April 14, 2007, his father Thaddeus Stahl & a pet dog "Zipper".

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am on Saturday August 18, 2007 until the time of services at 12:00noon at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kim Mattila, along with his brothers Ted, Danny and David and his brothers-in-law – John, Tom and Steve.

In honoring Patrick's wishes, he donated his organs to the Gift of Life.
